Haoyu Wang received his bachelor degree in electrical engineering with distinguished honor from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. He received his master degree and Ph.D. both in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA. He joined in the School of Information Science and Technology as a tenure track assistant professor, PI in September 2014. His research interests include power electronics, plug-in electric and hybrid electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, power management solutions for emerging fields including big data, AI, IoT, and etc. He is the author and co-author of 53 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers. As an inventor, he filed 7 China patents.

 Dr. Wang is a senior member of IEEE and a senior member of China Power Supply Society. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Trans. Transp. Electrif., and an Associate Editor for CPSS Trans. on Power Electron. and Appl. Since 2016, he has served as the track chair for IEEE APEC. He served as the session chairs for prestigious conferences including IEEE APEC, IECON, ECCE-Asia, ITEC, and CPSS annual meeting. He is a reviewer for top-tier journals including IEEE Trans. on Power Electron. and IEEE Trans. on Ind. Electron.

 His undergraduate course “Intro. to Info. Sci. and Tech.” is recognized by the Shanghai Municipal Government as “excellent course” (2018). He is the recipient of ShanghaiTech Outstanding Employee (2017), SIST Best Teaching Award (2017), Distinguished Dissertation Fellowship from the University of Maryland (2014), IEEE APEC Travel Grant (2018, 2014), NSC fellowship (2009-2013), Finalist of Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship (2012), and CKC Distinguished Graduate from Zhejiang University (2009).  His graduate students received honors including China National Scholarship, Distinguished Graduate from Shanghai Municipal Government, Distinguished Graduate from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and etc.
