Increasing Beam FOV and Gain in Base Station Arrays with a Metasurface Lens

摘要

Metasurfaces are able to modulate the physical parameters such as polarization, amplitude and phase of electromagnetic waves, which is developing very rapidly. Base station antennas have a limited field of view (FOV) due to the mode of their excitation. To solve this problem, we propose to superimpose reconfigurable metasurfaces to base station antenna arrays, which are used to become increase the antenna field-of-view, increase the beam gain, and suppress the gate flap.The simulation results confirm the significant potential as a possible solution for base stations to simultaneously cover signals to airplanes and cars.
