Beam-Hopping Based Resource Allocation Algorithm in LEO Satellite Network

摘要Beam hopping Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Network can augment terrestrial wireless networks to provide global broadband services to users regardless of the users’ locations. Compared with Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) Satellite, the LEO satellite has limited on board resource, e.g., power, battery, and weight. In this paper, we propose a beam hopping scheme for resource limited LEO satellite to improve the performance of throughput. Compared with the traditional fixed point beam scheme, the beam hopping scheme provides better performance of capacity throughput when the distribution of users is uneven. First, we review the related work about beam hopping, and shows that most of the existing beam hopping schemes are for GEO satellite and cannot be used for the LEO satellite. Then, we propose the system model and formulate the resource allocation problem in beam hopping scheme. Various simulations are constructed to verify that the Beam Hopping Scheme has better performance of throughput than the fixed beam scheme, and the performance improvement is more significant when the distribution of users is uneven.
