Welding solidification cracking susceptibility of Gd-containing GH3535 alloy

摘要

The welding solidification cracking susceptibility of one novel Gd-containing GH3535 alloy was systematically investigated using the trans-varestraint test method. The results show that the crack length of Gd-containing GH3535 alloy increases linearly with the test strain, which is significantly larger than that of Gd-free alloy. The strong cracking susceptibility of Gd-containing GH3535 alloy is ascribed to the low melting point Ni5Gd phase at the grain boundaries. The backfilling effect of the gamma/Ni5Gd phase cannot completely counteract the solidification cracking caused by it. Our results can provide a reference for the welding operation of Gdcontaining GH3535 alloys for molten salt reactor applications.
