Toward a Deformable Two-Dimensional Covalent Organic Network with a Noncovalently Connected Skeleton

摘要Exploring new structures of synthetic two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials plays a crucial role in the development of such burgeoning materials toward more appealing functions and innovative potential applications. Herein, a new strategy is described to construct a unique 2D covalent organic network (CON) with a noncovalently connected skeleton through the facile solvothermal condensation of aromatic trialdehyde with a rationally designed unconventional macrocyclic diamine, which contains preorganized quadruple hydrogen-bonded ureidopyrimidinone (UPy) modules. The obtained UPy-integrated CON exhibits unique structural deformation behavior via the acid- base-induced de-/reformation of quadruple hydrogen bonds in the skeleton. This work enriches the structural tvues of the 2D nanomaterial by introducing a unique noncovalently preorganized building block; more promisingly, it develops a new strategy that offers unlimited opportunities in the design and construction of diverse synthetic CON materials concurrently featuring with structural regularity and deformability.
